Jobloads
Jobloads is a verified, flexible workforce database for the horticulture industry based out of Gisborne, NZ. I was involved the initial discovery for Jobloads (previously called Carloads) where myself and two colleagues travelled to Gisborne to live like Jobstars (Previously called Kaimahi) for a couple of days. Learning from the Jobloads team the struggles of finding reliable workers in the horticulture industry and how they planned to solve it with this idea of a platform where workers can find work and also get a lift to the site with their fellow Jobstars.
We planned out a set of questions to ask workers and growers as we worked alongside them in the persimmon orchard doing a winter prune. But there was little time for standing around asking questions, we were put to work and between the three of us completed one row in the time it took our new friend James to complete three! We got to have a chat during our smoko break and then we dropped the other workers back at the drop off points at the end of the day. After a few stops at Gisborne's beautiful beaches, a delicious hangi feast for lunch and another work shop session it was time to fly back to Wellington and begin working on some design concepts for how this platform would actually work.
I created a V1 site map to figure out how the different user types fit together.
I then presented the Jobloads team with three look and feel options for their platform taking inspiration from their brand. EndGame and Jobloads working together iteratively to build a MVP version of the application to which they took and continued to develop in house.
